File talk:Shallots - sliced and whole.jpg
Can someone clarify?: To me the photograph on the top right of the page looks like a bulb onion or common onion(covered elsewhere under Onion). This is commonly available and widely used in India so it seems very familiar as a common onion. However there are small shallots which are mild and come in multiple cloves like garlic. "shallots are formed in clusters of offsets with a head composed of multiple cloves".
Not being an expert cannot classify the photo so raised a doubt, What can be classified as a shallot or an onion? But the photograph on the top right looks likea common bulb onion
