I'm not sure why someone is disputing this. It's a ca. 1879 photo, taken (ims) on the Wheeler expedition, a US govt. survey. Unquestionably PD. Pete Tillman (talk) 15:09, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

the image is old, and definatly falls under {{PD-US}} but there is a note right under the image from the source website that states "Any reproduction requires the permission of the repository." Admrb♉ltz (tclog) 04:19, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bridgeman v. Corel overrides that, as long as we can prove it was published (not just taken) before 1923. --NE2 05:15, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
