I tried looking for the source online, but I couldn't find an exact version. Nonetheless the very NAME of this picture indicates its 250 years old. Surely it must be in public domain and source is not needed?--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 04:49, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think it is necessary for you to announce to protect this image with sysop powers, as that may as easily be unprotected by another sysop and the delete tag added and then protected again. The image has no source. The image has no author. Assumption is not good enough, sorry. Rules are the rules, if you have a source, then that's great there is no problem, but it needs to be stated. If the image is found again, then it can gladly be uploaded again no one would stop you, but until then I am afraid this image is not in compliance. Gryffindor 16:08, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
- The image is described as from 1752. This is as belivable piece of information as if the uploader would give a source or the author, right? Therefore we can assume this is a 1752 art piece and thus no matter what the source it public domian under Bridgeman Art Library v. Corel Corp..--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 17:03, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
- What was the problem finding this image? The very first Google hit in a search for "+Branickich +palac" turns up the immediate source... painter still unknown, though. Piotrus, does the link (see img page) help you to track down the painter? Lupo 07:56, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- I don't remember what keywords I used, but I know I found two pages of different images of this palace, none of them were a copy of that. The one you found states it is a sketch from 1752 by 'Rentz and Klemm'.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 16:46, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, it helps if one speaks Polish :-) I looked for "Rentza" and "Klemma" and didn't find much... Omitting the final "a", I found out that Johann Heinrich Klemm or Jan Henryk Klemm (1728 – 1758) was a baroque architect and one of the architects who built or extended the palace. Michael Heinrich Rentz (1701 - 1758) was an engraver born in Nuremberg, famous in his time. I don't know for sure that he is the Rentz that did this engraving, but it appears plausible and I haven't found any other likely candidate. Lupo 20:42, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
- Nice history detective work, Lupo! Tnx! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 21:23, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
