Image page does not reflect changes in uploaded file

At time of upload, the preview displays the addition of the red helmet as expected, but even after clearing browser cache, the image page does not reflect the change. Does the new image need to be approved before it replaces the old image? Gatomasgordo (talk) 17:53, 10 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of a fair use image as a replaceable image. Please do not modify it.

The result was to delete the image.

This image depicts the helmets, jerseys, and pants that are used in various combinations by the Arizona Wildcats football team. No combination of descriptive text or illustrative photographs will convey this same information as completely and accurately. The use of a low-resolution version of the University of Arizona block 'A' logo in the image is to indicate the placement of the emblem on the football helmet. Variations of the image have been included on individual season pages to illustrate how the uniform has evolved year-to-year.

All of the logos and other marketing items are clearly below the threshold of originality and thus in the public domain, so there is no copyright in the clothes. However, the original uploader, User:Kevin W. published his depiction of the clothes under an unfree licence. This can be replaced by a different image of the same clothes which has been licensed under a free licence. --Stefan2 (talk) 22:56, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

But at least at an earlier version, http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Pac-12-Uniform-UA.png&oldid=437312560 the uploader said he had created himself so doesn't that mean that in uploading to WP he was required to be giving it a free licence? Is it possible for me to upload a self-created image that is not free? I know that when someone adds "non-commercial" or whatever to the file description that calls the licence into question but the uploader didn't do that. He considered the uniform was copyright but that seems now to be accepted as a mistake. I can't work out the implications of the changes to the file description and the updated images. Only text gets an automatic licence. Images are licensed under the indicated licence and unlicensed if no licence is provided. If a user uploads an own work as unfree, then the image violates WP:NFCC#6. --Stefan2 (talk) 19:52, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
