Why are states and territories different shades of colors? For example Oregon is dark blue but Texas is light blue. 98.196.78.26 (talk) 05:21, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have the same question. I think the white borders are enough to divide the areas with the same hue. The different shades can be mistaken for representation of numerical data in my opinion. 24.2.125.123 (talk) 04:18, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hawaii
