I think the "Description" associated with this image ("Mont Blanc from Chamonix") is badly misleading.

Here is a detailed assessment of what the image actually shows:

  • The dominant summit on the left side is Aiguille du Midi (3842m).
  • The ice-covered ridge just right of Aiguille du Midi is the Western ridge of Mont Blanc du Tacul (4248m), but the actual summit is hidden behind the rocks of Aiguille du Midi.
  • The next ridge to the right and behind Mont Blanc du Tacul is the Northwest ridge of Mont Maudit (4465m), but the actual summit is hidden in the clouds.
  • The dominant Glacier in the centre of the image is Glacier des Bossons, reaching far down into the forest.
  • Mont Blanc (4805m) is completely hidden in the clouds above Glacier des Bossons, right of Mont Maudit.
  • The next, icy mountain to the right is Dôme du Goûter (4304m), but once again, the actual summit is invisible because it is also hidden in the clouds.
  • Finally, the triangle-shaped peak to the right is Aiguille du Goûter (3863m).

To summarize, neither Mont Blanc itself nor any of its major side peaks above 4000m (Courmayeur, Maudit, Tacul, Bosses, Dôme du Goûter) is visible, so the title should not be "Mont Blanc".

A better title would be something like "Aiguille du Midi and Aiguille du Goûter, Mont Blanc completely hidden in the clouds".

Thank you for your consideration!
