Berrochescire
[edit]If you look at the original folios of the Domesday Book, in the part on Berkshire, only the first page uses the spelling Berrochescire. The second through fourth pages use the spelling Berchescire, and pages five through sixteen use Berchscire. Cf. https://opendomesday.org/book/berkshire/01/ ff. —ReadOnlyAccount (talk) 13:27, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
Chenth
[edit]In the Domesday Book, Kent is mostly spelled Chenth, except for the last page of that section, where the spelling is Chent. Many but not all of the Kent folios also have a dot after the county name. I am not sure if that is significant. —ReadOnlyAccount (talk) 13:52, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
