This image is incorrect. Not only paternal and maternal MHC class II gene products are expressed, but also gene products with a maternal alpha chain and paternal beta chain, and with a paternal alpha chain and maternal beta chain. The alpha and beta chains are transcribed separately, and find each other in the ER.
