Any map is a lot of work...

Having said that, grey is a poor choice for the Irish Sea, North Sea, Thames Estuary. It took me close to a minute of puzzling to figure out the scale of this map.

Then I scrolled down, and saw the earlier versions that showed the entire shape of England, Cornwall, Wales. Why the more detailed view? Geo Swan (talk) 00:08, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The earlier maps used modern counties and are therefore inaccurate.. The current map is based on the Tribal Hidage and shows detailed internal boundaries, as described in Sarah Zaluckyj & Marge Feryok, Mercia: The Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Central England (2001). ðarkuncoll 00:14, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can only agree about the choice of colour. I was very confused as to what this map represented until I realised grey was sea and white land - the other way around would've caused no such problem. 88.105.93.3 (talk) 22:03, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
