kaf and gaf

[edit]

The 'kaf' character is different from when I learnt it as a schoolboy. Here is a chart of unjoined characters, which seems to have Malaysian authorship, that shows the 'kaf' and 'gaf' (called 'ga' there) that I remeber. The blog post linked also has a note about 'kaf', which I translate:

In the old spelling, the unjoined kaf is {char}. In the new spelling, this form is not used anymore. The small hamzah on the unjoined and joined kaf are strictly not used in contemporary Jawi script. This kaf is named the Malay kaf.
