A quick question - this may sound strange to say, but is it possible that the ESSA II image of Hurricane Faith as used is actually upside down? The reason i ask is that here http://history.nasa.gov/SP-168/section1.htm (image file at http://history.nasa.gov/SP-168/p29a.jpg ) and in some other places, the image is inverted from what it is here. Given my 20 years+ in meteorology and experience with TC structure, if I was a betting man, I'd say Wikipedia has it right, and the NASA site has it wrong. It's been my experience that almost all of these pseudo frontal-type convergent bands/troughs extend toward the southern quadrant form the TC center, and the feature somewhat resembling a warm-frontal baroclinc leaf is invariably on the north side of the center.
Anyway, just some food for thought. Do a google search for Faith ESSA and you'll see several examples of that particular image of Faith being inverted.
