Misrepresented product

This picture shows a product, that is represented as being certified, as in listed or under the follow-up programme of a nationally accredited certification organisation. See this talk page for the discussion thread that indicates that the product is only tested, not listed, meaning that there is no third party evidence that the product tested is identical to the product being sold. In a test leading to product certification, the manufacture of the product is witnessed by the lab. The lab has a copy of the process standard. If the test passes, the manufacturer can use the label's certification mark on the product and in advertising. The lab further signs a follow up agreement with the vendor that permits the lab access to audit the factory at unannounced intervals 4 times per year to make sure that the item being made is still identical to that which was tested. If noncompliances are found under follow-up or certification, they must be remedied or the right to label the product with the certification mark is revoked. This process underlies code compliance. This product, however, is advertised online as being certified by Southwest Research Institute. SWRi, however, does not list the product or anything made by the vendor in its certification directory, as of 10. January 2012. Just enter the name of the vendor or the product to see if there is a listing. If not, the claim of "certified" is false. It was, as of 12. January 2012. Because the vendor has OTHER certified products, concrete block, certified through multiple listings by UL, check listings here: http://database.ul.com/cgi-bin/XYV/template/LISEXT/1FRAME/index.htm, it is difficult for the vendor to claim he or she does not know the difference between tested and certified, or listed.--Achim (talk) 03:21, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
