I have just uploaded this scan of a letter I own (it is not a copy from anywhere) - from the English Composer Edward Elgar to the Polish composer /politician Ignacy Jan Paderewski written in 1915 which has important relevance to the article I have started on Elgar's work Polonia (Elgar). Elgar died in 1934 (74 years ago).
I dont see any problem. It's NOT an image form a book or a website, it's an original letter I own and have with me, written 93 years ago.
Somebody said the tag should be

This file is NOT necessarily in the public domain in the United States because a non-simple image can only be in the public domain in the U.S.:
if it entered the public domain in the United Kingdom prior to 1996, or
when, after that date, its copyright term expires in accordance with U.S. law.
Information about the creation date and creator should be provided.
If the image is not in the public domain in the United States, in addition to the license tag for its status in the United Kingdom an appropriate fair use license and rationale should be provided, or the image should be proposed for deletion.
If the media is in the public domain in both the United Kingdom and the United States, it may be transferred to the Wikimedia Commons.
Note: If this image is in the public domain in the U.S., modify the end of the copyright tag from }} to |commons}}. This will replace the preceding U.S. copyright notification with a nomination for this image to be moved to the Wikimedia Commons.
but maybe I have not put this in the right place, but I have not been able to find out where to put it.
Please can you help? It may be that I need to put the tag in the right place. I am not very experienced with the copyright area of wikipedia. Though I have been trying. I would be happy and more than grateful if you could help.
