File talk:Dying gaul.jpg

I don't have the know-how to edit or delete a page or image, but it ought to be done here. This famous statue reflects not the conquest of Galatia, but, as the name of the statue would suggest (!), the conquest of *Gaul*, comprising modern day France. While both Celtic peoples, and related words, they are very far away from each other. Use of this image here is misleading and rather embarrassingly incorrect. - There is a text on the main page (which should be here) asking for deletion and stating it has nothing to do with Galatia. No authorities are cited. See Cambridge Ancient History Online Vol 7(1) p 424 for discussion. I believe it to be authentic. Original by Epigonus. I will move the original comment here --Michael Goodyear (talk) 14:32, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
