File talk:Dirac function approximation.gif
Hi - looking at this page for info and need to ask a question about this .gif caption. As I understand this .gif, it's an animation of the effect of increasing a, leading to functions of increasing "height" (for lack of a better word; not a mathematician). However, the caption, as it reads, is somewhat confusing to me. This .gif caption reads "as a->0". Is the classic function read "as x->0", with a set at some value? My thoughts are to, perhaps, illustrate for the reader that "a" takes on values (from 1->6 in the animation (if I remember correctly), whereas the function is varied with x. Again, my thinking may be wrong, so I'll stop here. This may just be my error, but I thought I would point out my question in hopes of clearing up my confusion.
Thank you very much for your contributions!
