Why is this file titled "Deportation of Jews by Assyrians", when those who were deported (the 10 northern tribes) were not Jews, the Jews were the inhabitants of the southern kingdom of Judah? The Jews were never taken captive by the Assyrians, they were taken captive by the Babylonians later on.

I will add that only a remnant of the Southern Kingdom of Judah were deported to Babylon. The vast majority of Judah were taken into Media and Mesopotamia over a century before this together with the Northern Kingdom of Israel. It was only when the less than 50,000 captivies returned from Babylon after 70 years that the people of the Jews came into existence, having been forcibly incorporated with Edom be the Romans. The first time the name 'Jew' appears in the AV Bible is in II Kings 16:6, so it is very misleading indeed to title this file "Deportation of Jews by Assyrians". It would be accurate to title it 'Deportation of Israelites by Assyrians'. Michael A Clark
