File talk:Coton-De-Tulear.jpg
Appearance
This dog is not a Coton de Tuléar, but a Maltese Bichon !
- I showed the photo and your comment to a friend who is a vet tech. Her response:
- <Friend>: the main difference i can tell is that a maltese should have straight hair and the coton should have wavy hair….but the maltese used to have waves, so that could still come through
- <Friend>: looks like a maltese to me, but the breeds are so close, it's hard to be sure plus, their faces are slightly different, but the picture doesn't give a good profile
- <Me>: understood
- <Friend>: i've been caught out at work before. called something a maltese, turned out to be a coton
- <me>: it's listed as a coton, someone said "No, it's a Maltese", so I thought I'd pass it by someone who knows more
- <Friend>: i see why they'd say that, but i don't think it's a simple matter
- <me> are you okay with this conversation (anonymized, of course) being used as information about whether it's a Coton or a Maltais?
- <Friend>: yes, but i don't want to give the impression that i think it's possible to tell for sure from a photo
- So there you have it. In the absence of further information, I think it's better to assume the photographer-and-uploader knew what he was talking about, and that this is in fact a Coton. DS (talk) 21:55, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
