Description
English: cloister in the Walkenried Abbey, once one of the most celebrated Cistercian abbeys of Germany, located in the village of Walkenried in the district of Osterode in Lower Saxony.
Deutsch: Das Bild zeigt einen der gotischen Kreuzgänge mit mittelalterlichen Grabsteinen im Klausurgebäude des Zisterzienserklosters Walkenried. Das Kloster gehört zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe und umfasst die Ruine der Klosterkirche sowie das größtenteils erhaltene gotische Klausurgebäude, das 2006 zum Museum ausgebaut wurde. Der ehemalige Kapitelsaal des Klosters wird seit dem 16. Jahrhundert als evangelische Kirche genutzt.
