Summary

Description
English: Zercher Hotel, site of some of the events known as the "Christiana Riot" on 09-11-1851, where a free black defended runaway slaves from their putative owner. Well-known event leading up to the Civil War. In Christiana, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, near the Pennsylvania RR mainline. Obelisque to the left of the hotel commemorates the event, built 1911.
