Description

Tenon and mortice work; forms of jointing in tie beams or cross beams, from the Chinese building manual of the Yingzao Fashi, published by Li Jie in the year 1103, during the Song Dynasty.

This picture appears on page 98 of Joseph Needham's book Science and Civilization in China: Volume 4, Part 3, Civil Engineering and Nautics.
