English: A fresh specimen of the slickhed Xenodermichthys copei, caught in the Rockall Trough in the North Atlantic. The fish has a very large eye and a soft, scale-less body, with a general dark purple/blue colour, dotted across its body with bumpy, nodular light organs. This specimen was photographed under bright LED lights to better illustrate the metallic sheen, the large eyes, and the light organs.
