Summary

Description
English: The shipwreck of the Danish wooden schooner Doris at the southern end of Seaton Sands adjacent to North Gare at the mouth of the river Tees in County Durham, UK. In 1930 the ship was floundering near the Longscar Rocks off Hartlepool dragging its anchors in a storm. The crew were taken off by lifeboat and the stern part of the schooner washed up a few miles south and became fast in the sands. The object in the middle of the wreck is a motor. A further shipwreck and the town of Seaton Carew can be seen in the distance. Today the wreck is almost completely buried by sand and only the motor shows above the surface.
Date Transparency taken in summer 1983 from North Gare breakwater. Scanned in April 2008.
