Summary

Description
English: This map of the Earth shows surface temperature trends between 1950 and 2014. The key to this map is here.

The map shows that most areas of the Earth have warmed, with warming particularly strong in polar regions. A few areas have experienced cooling. There has on average been more warming over land than oceans.

Changes in global mean temperature may also be given relative to a base period of 1951 to 1980. This method shows that temperature anomalies (5-year mean) in the years 1950 and 2012 were -0.09 and 0.61 °C, respectively.
