English: Pacific locomotive after Winsford crash.
View eastward at Crewe Works, ex-London & North Western Railway: 'Coronation' 4-6-2 (Pacific) No. 6251 'City of Nottingham' awaits repair. It had been heading the Up West Coast Postal when it collided at 40+ mph with the rear of the 17.40 Glasgow to Euston express, which had been stopped in open country in the middle of the night after a soldier on Leave had pulled the communication cord to get home across the fields and the express had been wrongly reported 'out of section' by the Winsford signalman.
