William Thomas Lucas was born in Bailieboro, Ontario in 1875. In 1918 he bought a farm east of Lougheed. Lucas ran in the 1921 federal election in the electoral district of Victoria as a UFA candidate, winning the seat. Lewis won in the new electoral district of Camrose in the 1925 federal election, and again in 1926 and 1930. In the 1935 federal election Lucas ran as a Conservative candidate, finishing third behind the winning Social Credit candidate James Alexander Marshall. Lucas moved to Ottawa following his defeat.
