Notes Recorded in 1838 as a Merchant of Macao, during the 1820s and 1830s Alexander Robertson was in loose partnership with the firm of Jardine and Matheson, acting as super cargo on the firm's vessels. Carvel built, with a displacement of 251 tons, Robertson is recorded as having traded from the Sylph during the early 1830s, running between Macao and the Canton River to India.
