Description: Identification on verso (typewritten): William J. Glackens (1870-1938). Starting as an illustrator for newspapers and magazines, Glackens found in his immediate world subjects for his painting. As a member of "The Eight", he was much admired by his contemporaries for his powers of observation and his draughtsmanship.
