Summary

Description The statue of John Wilkes on Fetter Lane. Wilkes was an 18th century politician and reformer who had a number of brushes with authority, including serving time for criticising the King. He advocated electoral reform and opposed the treatment of the American colonies that led to the American Revolution; he's still known today as a 'Champion of liberty'. The statue has stood here since 1988. First posted in "Guess Where London".
