Summary
[edit]"Wieder nischt!"; WWI postcard art. A German army soldier in uniform & brimless (trench-style) cap stands at right, looking unhappy; his hands & pockets are empty while 2 of his comrades are walking away to the left, heavily-laden with parcels & letters from the feldpost (field-post). He comments 'Wieder nischt!' (Again nothin'!). Pencil-drawing; drawn on a standard, printed German army 'Feldpostkarte' post-card blank. Front is inscribed with 2 separate captions, in 2 separate lines, as well as the artist's initials in the lower right corner of the picture: '"Wieder nischt!"' ("Again nothin'!"), , & . Back with handwritten letter-style message in pencil, written over & perpendicular to the standard printed design & text; possibly by a different hand than the picture & captions on the front (signature & initials do not seem to match), not yet transcribed. The message appears to be dated 1915-11-29?; certainly World War I era. No stamps or postmarks; card does not appear to have been mailed as a postcard. More information would be appreciated; feel free to transcribe/translate the inscriptions, if you can read them better than I can. Wittig collection, item 43; private collection, fam. Wittig et cie.
Created during WWI, therefore obviously pre-1923; uploaded here to avoid Commons' "dual jurisdiction" PD rule.
