English: Vijzelgracht, Amsterdam, Netherlands, sept. 2008. These old monumental houses subsided due the builing of the Amsterdam Metro (underground). The soil, consisting mainly of bog, was very weak and the retaining wall was leaking.
Nederlands: Verzakte monumentale wevershuizen aan de Vijzelgracht (vanaf nummer 20) te Amsterdam ten gevolge van de bouw van de Noord/Zuidlijn (de metro). De veenachtige ondergrond was al erg zwak en de damwand lekte waardoor de grond onder de huizen uitspoelde. De panden verzakten in juni 2008 zo'n 15 centimeter. In september werden de bouwwerkzaamheden hervat, binnen één dag verzakten er zes panden met een maximum van 23 centimeter.
