DescriptionWest face of keep, Macroom Castle - geograph.org.uk - 734699.jpg
English: West face of keep, Macroom Castle Built some time in the 12th. century, the castle was occupied until burned in the War of Independence (1916-22). Most of the shell was demolished in the 1960s for public safety reasons. The view from the town bridge is still very imposing.
