English: This wat is located in the heart of downtown Vientiane and is the only wat in Laos to feature numerous scenes from Sinxay as carved window panels. At Wat Haysoke during the late 1980’s the abbot at the time, Ven. Bouakeo Sengsouriya, who had been abbot for twenty years, made the decision to have all the wooden doors and window covers in the front and on the right side of the sim carved with scenes from Sinxay. This project began in 1990 and lasted for three years. Ven. Bouakeo used examples of Buddhist art in Vientiane and other locations in Laos for his inspiration. Together with the woodcarving expert, Mr. Sisouk, he helped draw the paper stencils used for carving the doors. Mr. Sisouk and his workers then carved the 24 wooden panels and five doors over a period of three years.
