English: In this plan view waves come from bottom to top, on top is coastline, the waves approach the coast under an angle and have a momentum mv. At the coastline momentum has to be zero, so momentum has to be transferred into a force F. This force can be divided into a force parallel to the coast FL and a coast perpendicular to the coast Fc.
Nederlands: In dit bovenaanzicht komen de golven van onder naar boven, de kustlijn is boven. De golven breken op de brekerlijn. De golven hebben een impuls mv. Bij de kustlijn moet deze impuls nul zijn, De impuls is dus omgezet in een kracht DF. Deze kracht F kan ontbonden worden in een kracht evenwijdig aan de kustlijn FL en een kracht loodrecht op de kustlijn Fc |
