Description
English: Indicted Japanese war criminals standing to attention in the dock of the Singapore Supreme Court at the beginning of the trial. This photograph shows a scene from the first war crimes trial to be held in South East Asia Command. Ten Japanese officers and men were charged with offences of beating, overworking and general maltreatment of Indian prisoners of war, which in some cases led to the death of prisoners. A number were also charged with executing prisoners.
