Description

1860-1900 carte de visite photo of an elderly lady in a bonnet, by W H Gill of 33 Catherine Street, Devonport, England (previously of James Street). The back of the card advertises "portrait, landscape and equestrian photography". This image is one of a pair with File:W H Gill Devonport 004.jpg; they may be husband and wife.

Points of interest
  • She wears a silk dress with a great deal of lace and a jet brooch and cameo brooch.
  • She has a watch chain.
  • Her right hand shows swollen joints which may indicate arthritis.
  • She has apparently lost her teeth, making her appear older than she is; she may be in her 60s.
