The New York Times reports this event was the first in a series of 12 forums on the economic status of artists in the U.S., sponsored by the Federal Art Project. Holger Cahill, national director of the Federal Art Project, was to open the first meeting. William Nunn, professor of economics at Newark University, would chair the opening forum. Principal speakers were announced as Irwin Edman, professor of philosophy at Columbia University; Elinore Herrick, New York state campaign director of the American Labor Party; and J.B. Neumann, director of the New Art Circle. Daly Theatre was loaned to the art project by Philip Barber, director of the Federal Theatre Project. The series was directed by Dorothy Paris.
