Example of German Kurrent handwriting
Text in 'deutschen Kurrentschrift':
[...] Schuhe wünsche. Der Kaufmann
zeigte ihm fünf Paar. Der Herr
wählte eines und fragte dann,
wieviel es koste. Der Kauf-
mann antwortete, der Preis
dieses Paares sei fünfzehn
Mark. Der Herr sagte darauf
das sei zu viel; er sei ein
Freund seines Hauses und käme
immer zu ihm; er solle ihm die
Schuhe billiger lassen. Der Kauf-
mann antwortete, daß er die
Schuhe nicht billiger geben könne,
daß er von seinen Freunden
leben müsse, da seine Feinde
nicht in seinen Laden kämen.
