DescriptionVisual impact of a jpeg compression on Photoshop.jpg
English: Visual impact of a jpeg compression on Photoshop on a picture of 4480x4480 pixels. This file of comparisons gives an idea about the quality of a jpeg image according to various rates of size and compression on Adobe Photoshop.
The minimum rate of compression is 0/12 (lowest quality) showing very visible artifacts at 100% and above. The maximum rate is 12/12 (best quality), generating images totally similar to the original at 400%. At 6/12, the level of compression starts to be visible at 100%, but is very subtle and the artifacts are easier to see at 400%. There's no distinguishable difference between the rates 9/12 and 12/12 at 100% of the size. Not shown here, the intermediate compression rates 1/12, 2/12, 4/12, 5/12, 7/12, 8/12, 10/12 and 11/12 are also available with the software.
