Description
English: Victorian Railways 5'3" 'RY' Type 16/22 ton wheat/general goods wagon No.RY 600 (built 1931 as a 16/27 ton 'IZ' Type No.IZ 600) at the Victoria Railway Museum, North Williamstown, 2 April 2016. The 'IZ'z' were open general goods wagons built 1928-35, the 'GZ's' were a roofed version for carrying grain built 1935. In 1959-61, 70 'IZ's's were rebuilt with welded bodies - the first all-welded 4-wheeled wagons in the world - and reclassified 'HZ' (then HY then GY or RY with various modifications).
