Two low-resolution photographs from the New York Times depicting newspaper columnist Victor Riesel before and after his blinding by sulphuric acid on April 5, 1956. Images depict not only Riesel's blindness, but scarring to his face, and forehead, and eyes. The second image was taken as Riesel entered the U.S. District Courthouse on December 4, 1956, to tesify in the trials of Domenico Bando, Gondolfo Miranti, and Leo Telvi (accused co-conspirators in the attack on Riesel).
