Summary

Description

c/n 035. Built 1954 as ‘F-BGNR’, the only registration she has ever worn! Delivered new to Air France she joined Air Inter in 1962 and flew with them until retired in 1973. She then flew to Perth to become an instructional airframe, initially with Airwork but later with Air Service Training. Kept mostly indoors she remained intact until 1998 when she was dismantled and moved to famed Skysport Engineering at Hatch. In 2007 she was finally preserved and moved to Coventry, where final reassembly took place in late 2012. Fully repainted in original Air Inter colours, she remains on display at the Midland Air Museum, Coventry Airport, UK. 11-10-2015

The following info is from the Midland Air Museum website:-

“The first turbo-prop airliner in the world, the Viscount first flew in 1948 and was very successful with over 440 built. Popular with passengers due to its quiet ride and large windows, they flew with many airlines and several air forces too. This one is an ex-Air France example, and is now owned by Museum.”
