Summary
Ancient buildings from the ruined city of Uxmal, Mexico.
The short building at the front is the southern construction of the Nunnery Quadrangle and displays the characteristcs of Puuc mayan architecture of the period: the detailed stone mosaic work and the relevance of Chaac, mayan god of water and rain. 3 large masks of the god are seen above the rightmost door.
Above the building, it can be seen the top of the Adivino (magician) pyramid that lies behind, it being one of the rarest mayan pyramids due its base being oval instead of rectangular. On the pyramid 2 doors can be seen, the lower being profusely decorated with stone work and Chaac motives while the upper one shows more examples of Puuc architecture around it.
On the leftmost door , some speakers are visible, they are used for the light and sound show at nights (see also Image:Uxmal-light-n-sound.jpg). Drini 06:20, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
