Une monnaie en cuivre d’une drachme d’un roi Turk Sahi du premier quart du VIIIe siècle. A/ Buste de trois-quart face à droite, portant une couronne composée de trois croissant contenant une tête de taureau à gauche, un cercle à droite surmonté d’une tête de lion. A l’arrière du buste, un ruban et un tamga à gauche du champ (type S67a). A droite du buste, une inscription en brahmi à 4h « sri ranasrikari » (Son excellence, Ranasrikari). R/ Autel du feu et deux servants. Poids : 2,5 g. Dimensions : 27,56 mm - 29,74 mm Référence : Göbl 1967, 254 ; Vondrovec tyre 254 Cette pièce de monnaie n’est pas bien située dans le temps et dans l’espace. Elle proviendrait du Kaboulistan et serait du premier quart du VIIIe siècle. Or, cette région est sous la domination de Sahi Tegin de 680 à 738 CE. Le nom Ranasrikari signifie « Il produit l’excellence par la guerre. » Il s’agit donc d’un surnom. Tout ceci signifie que nous n’avons aucune certitude quand à la date de parution, la région, etc. |
