Summary

Description
English: Former site of the USS Lead smelter, now a Superfund site, immediately north of the Grand Calumet River along Kennedy Avenue in East Chicago, Indiana. The portion of the site shown is the Corrective Action Management Unit (CAMU), where the lead-containing wastes from the smelter were consolidated after the smelter itself was demolished. The lead contamination in the surrounding residential neighborhood is still being remediated. [1]
