English: 030212-N-1131G-021 The Persian Gulf, (Feb. 12, 2003) -- Activity hums around the San Diego-based amphibious assault ship USS Tarawa (LHA 1), as U.S. Marines go ashore in Kuwait. A Landing Craft Utility (LCU) leaves the ship's well deck with equipment and Marines from the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Special Operations Capable (SOC) while a CH-53E "Super Stallion" helicopter heads to the beach.
