DescriptionUS-Canadian border along the 49th parallel.png
English: Depiction of the US-Canadian border that is ostensibly along the 49th parallel. Specifically, this covers from 123.5 degrees west to 95 degrees west. Due to inaccurate surveying equipment/techniques at the time, survey marks were often mistakenly placed off of the exact 49th parallel. This exaggerates the deviations approximately 1000-fold. The depicted east-west distance is about 1291.9 miles, while the depicted north-south distance is about 0.43 miles. This data was pulled from Google Maps: I manually followed the border as depicted and measured the longitude of the line (accurate to 5 decimal places) approximately every 0.015 degrees along its length. Each tick mark along the vertical axis represents one second, or approximately 101 feet / 30.8 meters.
