English: This is an image of part of the "E" bed of the Tsherige Member of the Bandelier Tuff. This is one of the upper beds, erupted late in the Valles event 1.25 million years ago, and relatively rich in iron and low in silica from the zoning of the magma chamber. The bed is also densely welded, indicating it came from the hotter part of the chamber. Photographed above Los Alamos, New Mexico, USA.
