The 'Cornishman' had left Wolverhampton (Low Level) at 09.00 and had run via Birmingham (Snow Hill), Stratford-on-Avon, Cheltenham, Bristol, Taunton, Exeter and Plymouth - where 4-6-0 No. 6824 'Ashley Grange' would have taken over from a 'Castle', for the difficult last 79½ miles to Penzance where it was due at 17.50.
