DescriptionTreasure binding of psalter at Walters Art Museum.jpg
English: Per the Walters Art Museum, in whose custody this item is held, this is the front cover to a psalter (in a jeweled, or treasure, binding) that incorporates elements from both the medieval period, such as the wooden boards themselves and the enamel panels, and the modern era, such as the nineteenth- or twentieth-century metalwork. This latter element depicts Christ surrounded by the four evangelists (going clockwise, John, Mark, Luke, and Matthew). The text block enclosed by the boards is also from the medieval era.
