Description
English: Men working on the laying of tramlines in Cliff Street, Fremantle, Western Australia.
  • On the left is Phillimore Chambers, built 1899 to a design by Wilkinson, Smith and Wilson and occupied by Frank Cadd & Co. Next door, 6 Cliff Street; and in the centre background, the Hotel Fremantle. This was erected in 1889 to the design of Wilkinson and Smith.
  • On the right side is the Union Bank, erected in 1889 and designed by William Edward Robinson of Melbourne.
  • The trees in the background on the right side are in the grounds of W.F. Samson's home.
